And we know it’s canceled. It’s bad news for the people who took the poll and said “Sure, but not like Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (for the DS, it sucked)”
According to a video posted on this site, a Halo DS did once exist in a playable Multiplayer form. It looked all good… until I looked at the video twice.
This game is nearly an EXACT clone of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Want me to list the similarities? See a picture here for reference too.
- In Rogue Agent, the menu system is a set of tiles, placed just like the ones you can see in the Halo DS video. Except it’s all blue.
- In Rogue Agent, the multi player setup is a series of small pictures that you can change to match the kind of game you want to play. Here it’s almost exactly the same (note the Master Chief’s picture; etc.).
- In Rogue Agent, enemies make distinct death noises. These are the same for Halo DS.
- In Rogue Agent, guns all make generally the same sounds. So do these guns.
- In Rogue Agent, damage is indicated with the red circle that shows what direction fire is coming from. Here too. And, when you are low on health you get a beeping noise. Same here.
- In the Corner of the Screen there is some multiplayer info- a player name, Matt, ect.. It’s the same font from Goldeneye’s multi player info.
- DUAL WIELDING. And the crosshair is the same.
If I knew Halo DS was just a cheap 10 second mod of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, I would never have considered buying it. The only differences are the menu/bottom screen colors, one or two maps and identical player models. That’s freaking it.
As they said in Arrested Development about the Bluth Company: “WE’RE GOING UP FROM SELL TO DON’T BUY!”
Alek out.

wow if they put more time into it i think it could have been a huge hit
Wait Alex did you get it?
The graphics suck.
Uh… Sinister, the game was canceled. And that was like halfway finished.
Also, yeah. The graphics ARE the same quality as Rogue Agent.
Good, I’m glad.
I don’t want Halo poisoning the DS.
It wasn’t close to being halfway finished, it was in a pre-stage and was just a quick demo made by a dev (presumably the same as Goldeneyes) that used the same engine. Is Splinter cell just a “mod” of Unreal since they use the same engine? No. Seriously find some facts before you blog about stuff. A one stage demo = halfway done? Was HALO DS going to have 2 levels??? SWEET BUY BUY BUY!
Dual wielding? Yeah…. Halo 2 had it so wouldn’t the DS version have it too? I don’t get that point.
Halo wouldn’t poison the DS, in fact more Xbox 360 owners wouldn’t hate the DS so much anymore. But that’s only if the game was good. That, my friends, looked terrible.
@Rahim: Goldeneye has the same thing. It’s a weak point but the connection is there.

Wow, that’s impressive. How many hits did this get?

Sorry for double-posting, Josh. But I forgot to leave my thought in the last comment.
Frankly, I don’t really care what X-Box fans call us. If they want to call us names for liking Nintendo, then they’re all insecure losers who love blood, gore, and graphics. And knowing exactly what horrid creature they really are is more than enough to keep me going and keep my head high as well.
The whole “poisoning” thing was merely a tactic to stir up discussion.

jeez Alex be a lawyer
You shut him up alright
@ alek
Most preproduction games use another games engine when it is in the initial stages of being pitched (which by the looks of the video with only one level), the project from what has been reported was never greenlighted and was just made as a pitch. Probably since it was the same engine (your blogging shows us this) the people who made Goldeneye(ds version not 64) made the demo. Anyways ttwashere made some good points, you shouldn’t be so mean to a reader.
(sorry for any gramer mistakes)
