Cold Coffee

Hey, I’m here to review one of the best, most recent and most controversial GTA games out there- Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

boxar

Setting up the game is simple- just insert the CD and install (I played this on PC).

The game follows Carl CJ Johnson, an African American from the fictional San Andreas. He and brother are in a gang, the Grove Street Families, and they have recently fallen out of control because CJ spent some time in Liberty City away from the gang. CJ vows to get the gang back on its feet and he sets off, doing jobs for the gang.

The gameplay is like that of other GTAs: open world driving/shooting. I won’t explain, since you most likely have one of these games or the many rip-offs (see: The Simpsons Hit and Run).

The audio is great- radio stations are both funny and match the time period (1992). Hearing Freebird when your car explodes in your face- classic. The voiceovers are nice as well (Sam Jackson as Tenpenny? Awesome!). The sound effects seem tinny and seem to suffer from console porting (this game is from the PS2, originally). The graphics also suffer from this syndrome- although spiffied up a little they still lack depth and quality. This game took awhile, and for its time it was decent, at least for the PS2.

Overall, the game is simply great. It’s a little bit of everything (ahem, dancing) but not too much of it (again, dancing).
